Women insurers take centre stage in Africa’s insurance market

The Africa Insurance Women Association (AIWA) has expressed its determination to make a transformative impact on the African insurance industry by empowering women to step up to leadership roles, spearhead innovation, and tackle the gender gap in insurance coverage.
The AIWA’s upcoming international conference for women in insurance, slated to be held from November 2nd to 6th, 2024 in Lagos State, is set to provide a platform for industry professionals to discuss the evolving trends, challenges, and opportunities within the insurance sector.
The event, themed to highlight the critical role of women in shaping the future of insurance, is also expected to highlight the unique contributions and perspectives that women bring to the table, as they continue to push for greater inclusion and leadership representation in this vital industry.
Speaking about the upcoming conference, Margaret Nkechi Moore, the president of AIWA, shared her excitement, stating, “This conference marks a pivotal moment for the insurance industry in Africa.

Moore also expressed confidence that the insights and solutions shared during the event will pave the way for a more resilient and innovative industry, driven by the unique perspectives and strengths of women leaders.
Ebelechukwu Nwachukwu, chairman of the Local Organizing Committee (LOC), also highlighted the significance of the event, saying, “The AIWA conference is not just a gathering; it’s a movement towards a more inclusive and forward-thinking insurance sector.
Nwachukwu added that the association’s goal is to foster discussions that will inspire actionable strategies, noting that she is honoured to be part of an event that is poised to make a lasting impact on the insurance industry.
