Africa World Airlines (AWA), Ghana’s leading airline and longest serving carrier on the Lagos – Accra route, has promised to further consolidate its operations and offer its customers greater travel options.

Jonathan Kofi Appiah, the airline’s head of commercial, speaking at a Trade Partners’ Forum and Award reception, noted that it is often said that most airlines that operate on the Lagos – Accra route only survive for between five and 10 years at most, but Africa World Airlines has done both by surpassing the limits and continues to provide excellent, safe and secure services to its esteemed guests.

“We pride ourselves as the leading carrier on the route with an impressive on time performance. This is because we always do all we can to ensure that our flights depart and arrive on schedule at our various destinations. And in the near future we hope to offer our guests more travel options with plans to commence flights to Port Harcourt,” Appiah said.

Kingsley Chima, the carrier’s country manager in Lagos, said; “Since recovering from Covid, we have been struggling to return to five flights daily. However, our immediate goal is to take it to 3 daily flights and we plan to restore the early morning flights out of Accra and Lagos. We are here today and have survived this long because you supported us and keep supporting us and we would like to thank you.”

Aaron Nortey, the airline’s sales and marketing manager, added: “Our values at AWA is to be a safe, efficient, punctual, cost conscious, and reliable airline that is committed to offering the best service.”

He used the forum to highlight the airline’s products as well as to address issues and challenges being faced by its trade partners.

These ranged from issues with name corrections, voiding of tickets, the airline’s change policy as well as challenges with refunds. As part of its commitment to recognising and rewarding its trade partners for their outstanding performances during the last financial year, the airline presented awards to its top three Nigerian BSP winners.

Satguru Travels took first position, while Wakanow and Quantum Travels came second and third, respectively.

In its effort to remain fully relevant and up-to-date in the travel technology space, Jonathan Appiah disclosed that AWA plans to embrace the New Distribution Capability (NDC) technology which will further give its travel partners greater options for their business.
