Moniepoint secures global Fintech recognition amid rapid expansion

Moniepoint Inc., one of Africa’s leading business payments and digital banking platforms, has gained recognition as one of the world’s leading fintech companies by CNBC.

The CNBC accolade places Moniepoint among an elite group of fintech firms celebrated for their robust financial performance and major achievements between 2023 and 2024. The comprehensive list, a collaborative effort between CNBC and market research firm Statista, was compiled after an analysis of key performance indicators, including revenue growth, transaction volumes, employee expansion, and capital raised. This process identified a diverse cohort of 300 trailblazing fintech entities globally.

Founded in 2015 by Tosin Eniolorunda and Felix Ike, Moniepoint, previously known as TeamApt Inc., has been a driving force in advancing financial inclusion across Africa. The company has particularly focused on serving individuals and businesses within the informal economy, segments historically underserved by conventional financial institutions. Moniepoint’s integrated ecosystem, encompassing digital banking, credit, payments, and business management tools, currently serves over 10 million customers. The platform processes more than one billion transactions monthly, with volumes exceeding $22 billion.

The latest recognition from CNBC follows a series of significant milestones for Moniepoint, reinforcing its commitment to innovation and the expansion of formal financial systems.

Notably, Moniepoint recently extended its services to Africans in the international diaspora with the launch of the MonieWorld platform. This initiative marks the company’s first foray into providing services to consumers outside Africa, offering seamless remittance and digital financial capabilities to individuals in markets such as the UK.

Furthermore, Moniepoint was featured in the TIME100 Most Influential Companies list for 2025 in June, a testament to its profound impact. The company has also been consistently recognised by the Financial Times for three consecutive years as one of Africa’s fastest-growing companies, acknowledging its remarkable revenue growth and business expansion. In addition, CB Insights included Moniepoint in its Fintech 100 list, reflecting its status as one of the world’s most promising private fintech companies.

Tosin Eniolorunda, group CEO of Moniepoint Inc., commented on the recognition: “It is an honour to be named as one of the world’s top fintech companies by CNBC. Moniepoint’s inclusion in this prestigious, authoritative list is testament to the hard work and success of the entire team, while highlighting our emergence as a key player shaping the future of fintech worldwide. Our mission to power the dreams of millions of African entrepreneurs and businesses continues to propel us forward with renewed vigour. As we continue to scale, we remain committed to driving global financial inclusion and widening access to economic opportunities for Africans everywhere — transforming lives and livelihoods.”

CNBC’s list of the world’s top fintech companies, initiated in 2023, aims to identify global market leaders in technology-driven financial services. The compilation spans various regions and market categories, including banking solutions, digital assets, and payments, offering a comprehensive overview for readers, investors, and stakeholders within the dynamic and rapidly evolving FinTech industry.
