Remita has been approved by the Nigerian Exchange (NGX) as one of the electronic application channels for the Dangote Refinery Initial Public Offering (IPO), giving eligible investors another digital route to participate in the public offer.
The approval will allow investors to access the offer through Remita when subscriptions open on September 14, 2026.
The Dangote Refinery IPO, which is scheduled to run until October 13, 2026, involves an offer of 4.1 billion shares at ₦525 per share. The minimum subscription is 10 shares, valued at ₦5,250, while investors can apply for additional shares in accordance with the terms of the offer.
DeRemi Atanda, managing director of Remita, said the company’s selection as an electronic application channel reflected confidence in its technology infrastructure and ability to support large-scale financial transactions.
He said the inclusion of fintech platforms in major capital market transactions could expand digital access to public offers and influence how future offers are conducted.
The participation of fintech platforms in the offer comes as Nigeria’s capital market continues to adopt digital channels for investor participation, potentially reducing the need for investors to rely solely on traditional physical application processes.
However, investors seeking to participate through Remita will still be required to meet the applicable offer requirements, including having the necessary stockbroking and Central Securities Clearing System (CSCS) details.
Remita said prospective investors should review the official offer documents and terms before submitting applications.
The IPO access comes alongside the launch of an upgraded Remita mobile application, which the company said is designed to bring more financial and lifestyle services into a single platform.
According to the company, the upgraded app allows users to manage accounts across multiple banks, transfer funds to Nigerian and African bank accounts, pay utility and government bills, obtain verified Remita Retrieval Reference (RRR) receipts, automate recurring payments and set up standing orders and direct debits.
Users can also access services including flight, event and movie ticket purchases, Esusu groups and personal budgeting tools through the application.
Atanda said the upgraded platform was part of Remita’s expansion from its traditional corporate-focused payments business into services aimed at individual users.
He said the app was designed to give users a more organised way to manage their financial activities from a single platform as digital payments become increasingly integrated into everyday transactions.
Remita Payment Services Limited (RPSL), which operates the platform, provides payment infrastructure to individuals, businesses, governments, financial institutions and fintech companies in Nigeria and other African markets.
