Theodore Nyingifa, managing director and lead consultant of Without A Box, has been named PR Personality of the Decade at the 2026 Edge Awards, in a recognition that highlights his contributions to Nigeria’s public relations and marketing communications industry.
The award, presented by Marketing Edge, a Nigerian marketing communications industry publication and organiser of the annual awards, was conferred at the 2026 ceremony held at 10 Degrees Events Centre, Oregun, Ikeja.
Nyingifa’s recognition comes after more than 16 years working across public relations, strategic communications, media, content, digital marketing, experiential marketing, talent management and brand activation. His career has combined agency leadership with campaign development and brand engagement initiatives across traditional and emerging communication platforms.
Before founding Without A Box in 2016, Nyingifa worked with several media and marketing communications organisations, including Sigma Emperor Magazine, Purrples Consult, Pulse.com.ng, Ringier Media and Brooks and Blake. During that period, he contributed to projects and campaigns for brands including MTN, GSK, Guinness and PZ Cussons.
His experience across the media and agency landscape provided a foundation for establishing Without A Box as a communications partner serving clients across multiple sectors.
Since its founding, the agency has delivered public relations and marketing communications services for organisations including PZ Cussons, PZ Wilmar, Bord Bia, NNPC, Flour Mills of Nigeria, Bet9ja, ValueJet, Ornua and Olam Agri.
Its work spans public relations, media relations, digital marketing, influencer and talent management, brand activations, crisis communications and stakeholder engagement, reflecting the expanding range of services brands use to reach audiences and manage their public profiles.
Beyond conventional agency assignments, Nyingifa has also pursued experiential marketing initiatives designed to connect brands with consumers through entertainment and culture.
In 2025, he conceived and served as chief organiser of Drinks Fest Lagos, a lifestyle and experiential platform that brought beverage brands and consumers together around Lagos’ nightlife culture. The inaugural event received the endorsement of the Lagos State Government and attracted more than 1,000 attendees, according to information provided by the organisers.
The festival added an event-led dimension to his communications work, using shared experiences as a platform for brand engagement and consumer interaction.
Commenting on the award, Nyingifa described it as both a personal milestone and recognition of the collective effort behind his career.
“This recognition is both an honour and a reminder of the responsibility we have as communications professionals to keep pushing boundaries, challenging conventions and creating meaningful value for brands and the industry,” he said.
He added that his professional journey had been shaped by collaboration, continuous learning and the belief that effective communication must go beyond visibility to build trust, relevance and lasting connections.
“I share this recognition with the teams, partners and clients who have been part of that journey,” he said.
Nyingifa has advocated an approach centred on clarity, relevance and tangible results, rather than visibility alone. His work across multiple communication platforms has informed his approach to brand building and the development of experiences intended to resonate with consumers.
The PR Personality of the Decade award marks a new milestone in his career and recognises his contribution to the development of public relations and marketing communications in Nigeria.
