The Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE) has launched its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative to cater for the needs of its immediate community.
Alex A. Okoh, the director general of BPE who unveiled the policy through Hassan Ibrahim Nurain, his technical adviser (Strategy) at a dinner/award night in Abuja to commemorate the 30th anniversary of reforms, commercialisation and privatisation in Nigeria said the BPE would commence the policy with education support for indigent school children in a less privileged neighbourhood in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The education support include school packs (backpacks, books/writing materials, water bottle) for 100 primary school pupils; donation of 50 sets (desk/chair) of school furniture to a local primary school in the FCT; and scholarships to 30 students for their entire secondary school education (i.e., JS1-SS3)
Okoh said the education support to children in need in local communities which commences next academic session is in fulfillment of the social responsibilities aspect of the Bureau’s approved CSR policy.
