The industrial sector of the Imo state economy is likely to receive a boost soon as the Nigerian American Chamber of Commerce of Michigan (NACOCOM-USA) Inc, which has launched its presence in Owerri, Imo state, has signalled its intention and readiness to help the industrial development and growth of the state.
NACOCOM-USA disclosed that it would partner with the incoming government of Emeka Ihedioha in Imo state to ginger the business community and scale up industrialization as NACOCOM-USA is a bilateral chamber of commerce.
Peter Anyanwu, the president of the Nigerian-American Chamber of Commerce of Michagan, who spoke with business a.m. at NACOCOM’s office located at the World Bank area in Owerri said all available and necessary information and assistance needed for the industrial growth and development would be supplied to the incoming administration as well as the business community in the state.
Some of the key officers of NACOCOM present during the interview with the NACOCOM president include, Queen Dozie Kenechukwu, the director-general, Onyebuchi Paschaline, the administrative secretary, Emma Anyanwu, head of Public Affairs and Edmund I. Adiele, one of the directors.
The president of NACOCOM-USA disclosed that some expatriates from Michigan and some Michigan directors of NACOCOM would be coming into Nigeria, especially into Imo State for a business mission.
According to him, the chamber is bracing up for the visit to ensure that the 135 manufacturing enterprises proposed by Emeka Ihedioha, the in-coming governor, which will be located in the 27 local government areas in the state (five per each LGA), will be established to stem the unemployment growth in the state.
He stated that the Nigerian American Chamber of Commerce of Michigan will lead the state towards sustainable economic growth, advocate pro-business environment for members in Diaspora and serve as a conduit for favourable business exchange between American and Nigerian business in particular, and African business at large.
According to the president, the main objective of the Chamber is to promote and protect trade and commerce between USA and Nigeria in particular and the African continent at large.
He added that the chamber will also advise the governments of member countries on bilateral and multilateral trade relations issues, as well as provide a platform through which members of the community could discover and exploit commercial and business opportunities etc.
