Former Access Bank group managing director and founder of the Aig-Imoukhuede Foundation, Mr. Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede has unveiled his newest project, a book titled, “Leaving the Tarmac: Buying a Bank in Africa” in which he shares his experience and the lessons learnt in the process of founding one of Nigeria’s foremost commercial bank, Access Bank Plc.

In the book, Mr. Aigboje reveals the motives for the acquisition of Access bank which had for about thirteen years of operations struggled with capitalization and corporate governance challenges.

Speaking during a media briefing to select journalists via a zoom session which serves as a prelude to the book’s global launch this Wednesday, Mr. Aigboje says the inspiration behind the book majorly was to inspire young entrepreneurs and to provide a roadmap drawn from his experience in running one of Nigeria’s foremost banks.

He says in Leaving the Tarmac: Buying a Bank in Africa: “For me, my role as CEO at Access ended on 20 December 2013, but I will always have a strong emotional connection with the bank. I will also continue to look forward to good returns as a shareholder. Obviously ‘the next chapter’ for Access Bank implies a new chapter for me as well. I hope readers will join with me to pray that God ensures that the next chapters for Access Bank and for Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede turn out to be worthy of more books.”

The book is scheduled to be unveiled before a global audience on Monday 29th, March.

Mr. Aig-Imoukhuede is the former group managing director of Access Bank and founder/chairman of the Aig-Imoukhuede Foundation and its subsidiaries, Africa Initiative of Governance (AIG) and the Aig-Imoukhuede Institute.
