Asue Ighodalo replaces Kolawole Jamodu as Nigerian Breweries chairman

Nigerian Breweries Plc has announced the appointment of Asue Ighodalo as a non-executive chairman of the company effective May 1,2023, in line with the board’s succession plan.

Ighodalo’s appointment follows the retirement of Kolawole Jamodu as chairman of the board after 17 years of meritorious service, with effect from  April 30, 2023.

The brewing company, in a statement, said Jamodu joined the board on March 1, 2006, and became chairman on January 1, 2008, playing a significant role in the company’s growth and transformation, which included various acquisitions and mergers between 2011 and 2014.

Meanwhile, Ighodalo joined the board on January 1, 2022. The highly experienced lawyer with over 35 years of experience is recognised as a leading figure in corporate Nigeria. He currently serves as the chairman of Sterling Bank Plc and Levene Energy Group and sits on the board of Okomu Oil Palm Plc. He is also the immediate past chairman of the Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG).

The board expressed its appreciation to  Kolawole Jamodu for his valuable contributions to the growth and success of the company during his tenure. It also congratulated Asue Ighodalo on his appointment and wished him success in his new role.

Nigerian Breweries stated that effective May 1st, 2023, its board of directors will be composed of the following members: Asue Ighodalo as chairman; Hans Essaadi as managing director/chief executive.

Other board members will include Juliet Anammah; Adeyinka Aroyewun; Sijbe Hiemstra (Dutch); Ndidi Nwuneli; Ifueko Omoigui Okauru; Roland Pirmez (Belgian); Ibrahim Puri; Bernardus Wessels Boer (Dutch);and Yeliz Yedikardesler (Turkish).
