One of Nigeria’s mobile telephone  services operators, Globacom, has regained its regulatory services status from the Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC) after it paid debts it owed the NCC for spectrum fees, numbering fees and annual operating levy (AOL).

In a statement issued by the Commission, it said a planned enforcement action against Globacom over its breach of extant regulations by failing to pay its debts despite several demand notices, has also been stepped down.

Globacom had earlier breached an earlier NCC’s withdrawal of suspension of regulatory services for failing to meet certain conditions it specified.

In a May 22, 2023 letter to Globacom, titled, “Re: Continuous Breach of Commission’s Laws and Regulations,” the NCC temporarily withdrew the suspension of regulatory services to Globacom, but automatically reinstated it after the telco failed to meet the conditions for the earlier withdrawal, the NCC said in a statement signed by Reuben Muoka, its director of public affairs
