By Joy Agwunobi.

Flutterwave, a leading African fintech company, has entered into a five-year technology partnership with Microsoft. The partnership will allow Flutterwave to build new payment services on Microsoft Azure, which will power its payment infrastructure across Africa and beyond. This will enable Flutterwave to expand its reach and provide more innovative payment solutions to its customers.

Business A.M gathered that the partnership will enable Flutterwave to leverage Microsoft’s technology and expertise to continue innovating and growing its business. A key focus of the partnership is to drive payment innovation and small business growth across Africa.

African SMEs play a critical role in the continent’s economic development, but they face many challenges. One of these is the lack of access to local payment methods, which makes it difficult for them to do business. Flutterwave believes that its recent innovation, powered by Microsoft Azure, can help African SMEs overcome these challenges and achieve their full potential.By combining their expertise and resources, Flutterwave and Microsoft hope to create a more accessible, efficient, and effective financial ecosystem for African businesses.

The Azure OpenAI platform also enables Flutterwave to expand its offerings to millions of merchants worldwide. For Flutterwave, this partnership is not just about the transactional aspects of payments, but about driving real transformation in the financial ecosystem.

Olugbenga Agboola, CEO Flutterwave, expressed his excitement about Microsoft’s belief in Flutterwave’s ability to drive digital inclusion in Africa.  Agboola noted that as part of the partnership, Flutterwave’s solutions will be available on the Azure Marketplace, expanding its reach to new markets.

“This is a significant step for Flutterwave as it continues to grow and expand its impact,” he added.

Lillian Barnard, president of Microsoft Africa, stated that the  increased access to technology and innovation is critical for the success of local businesses and the growth of African economies.

Bernard said Flutterwave’s move to Microsoft Azure reinforces its commitment to advancing financial inclusion and economic prosperity through technology, adding that the two companies share a vision for using technology to drive positive change in Africa.

According to the Microsoft Africa president,Flutterwave’s collaboration with Microsoft will help the company realise its vision of digital inclusion for small and medium businesses in Africa.

She noted further that the partnership will leverage Azure’s capabilities to help unlock the full potential of digital payments and drive economic growth.
