APRA advocates prioritisation of citizen interests amid Kenyan crisis

The African Public Relations Association (APRA) has issued a call to the Kenyan government, urging them to prioritise the well-being and best interests of their citizens. This statement was made in response to the widespread protests that erupted after the passage of the controversial Finance Bill 2024. 

In a statement issued by Ominiyi Ibietan, on behalf of the office of the Secretary-General, APRA, the leading pan-African body of public relations professionals, expressed solidarity with the Kenyan people and extended heartfelt sympathies to all those affected by the crisis, including its colleagues in the Public Relations Society of Kenya (PRSK).

“We commiserate with the families of those who died and wish a speedy recovery to those injured during the protests. We fervently pray for the

repose of the souls of the deceased,” the association stated.

APRA also urged the Kenyan government to put the people of Kenya first and in a show of conversational capacity as already indicated by the presidency, undertake stakeholder consultations with empathy and an openness to reconciliation.
