The Anambra State Government has abolished all cash payments for revenue collection, effective Monday, May 26. The decision by the ninth Anambra State Executive Council (ANSEC) aims to curb widespread extortion and fraudulent practices within the state’s revenue system.

Under the new directive, all taxes, levies, and charges due to the Anambra State Government will henceforth be publicly listed and accessible.

Law Mefor, the State’s commissioner for information, advised citizens to report any illegal cash collection attempts to law enforcement agents. This move, he stated, is part of a  push for transparency and accountability in the state’s public finances.

ANSEC also affirmed its commitment to driving government-community collaboration to ensure the security of development projects across communities within the state. Several projects received approval for construction during the recent council meeting, though specific details of these projects were not immediately disclosed.

A major highlight of the ANSEC meeting was the approval of the Solution Fun City as the venue for this year’s Children’s Day celebration. Commissioner Mefor underscored the government’s focus on family values, stating that children would converge at the facility to celebrate and enjoy its world-class facilities.

Mefor championed the Solution Fun City as tangible evidence of Governor Charles Soludo’s vision to transform Anambra into the Dubai-Taiwan Silicon Valley of the country, where innovation, economic, and business activities thrive.

He added, “Evidence now abounds, and the Solution Fun City is one of the numerous life-changing projects that have been delivered.”

The Solution Fun City is described as an international leisure park encompassing a water park, an amusement park, a family fun centre, and a country club. The Children’s Day event, themed “Leisure Park’s excursion,” is set to be a fun-filled affair designed to create a memorable day for attendees. The facility is touted as the largest in Africa, intended to provide relaxation, enjoyment, and family bonding opportunities for the people of Anambra.
