The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has cleared ride-hailing company Bolt to resume operations at airports under its management after both parties reached an agreement on the company’s operations within the airport environment.
FAAN said the agreement followed discussions with Bolt on an operational framework for e-hailing services at its airports. The authority announced the decision on Thursday, August 27, 2026, in a statement by Henry Agbebire, its director of public affairs and consumer protection.
The development ends the temporary interruption of Bolt’s airport services, which had led to complaints from passengers over the availability and cost of transportation after e-hailing operations were affected at some airports.
FAAN said it had been working for nearly a decade to address issues involving commercial and e-hailing vehicles operating within airport premises. The concerns include passenger solicitation and touting, random pick-ups, unregulated operations, and safety, security and accountability issues.

According to the authority the concerns led to the introduction of the Airport Car Hire Rank Management System (ACHRAMS) which provides a system for managing authorised car-hire operations and pick-ups within FAAN-managed airports and FAAN has clarified that ACHRAMS is an airport operations and queue-management system, not an e-hailing platform competing with Bolt, Uber or other ride-hailing companies.
FAAN also apologised to passengers for the inconvenience caused by the temporary disruption and said it appreciated their patience and understanding during the period.
The authority said the agreement with Bolt was reached after constructive engagements aimed at establishing an operational arrangement that addresses the requirements of airport operations while allowing e-hailing services to continue serving passengers.
FAAN also rejected claims that it controls fares charged by airport taxis. It said the fares discussed publicly were not newly introduced by the authority or created by ACHRAMS; it added that the system had only made existing fares more visible to passengers.
FAAN said its approach to commercial transportation at airports is guided by safety, security, accountability and the need to provide passengers with orderly transportation options.
The agreement with Bolt gives the ride-hailing company access to resume its airport operations immediately, while discussions with other operators continue.Â
