Former Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari has congratulated Akinwumi Adesina on the successful completion of his two terms as president of the African Development Bank (AfDB), praising his spectacular performance and the enormous success achieved during his leadership.

Buhari expressed his satisfaction with the  role he played in supporting Adesina’s initial election and subsequent re-election to the helm of the continental financial institution.

“I have seen Dr. Adesina, a son of Nigeria, put up a spectacular performance in the African Development Bank after two terms,” the former president stated.

As Adesina’s tenure concludes and a successor emerges, Buhari highlighted the outgoing AfDB president’s great, unmatched record of excellence, leaving shareholders far happier than they had ever been. He reiterated his contentment with having brought forward such talent.

The former president attributed Adesina’s achievements to his special talent, combined with hope, faith, a firm resolve and confidence, which allowed him to overcome challenges and emerge as a beacon of inspiration to others.

Buhari further emphasised the foundational role of hard work, discipline, and dedicated training in shaping Adesina’s distinguished career.

Buhari concluded by extending his wishes for greater strength and success in Adesina’s future endeavours.
