The Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (CIIN) has intensified its efforts to boost insurance awareness and education among Nigerian youths through a strategic partnership with Sapphital Academy, a leading digital learning provider, to train one million young Nigerians on the insurance profession.

The initiative is being executed in collaboration with the National Insurance Commission (NAICOM) and the Federal Ministry of Youth Development, underscoring a multi-institutional commitment to deepening insurance penetration and professional knowledge across the country.

To actualise this goal, the CIIN and Sapphital Academy have unveiled a purpose-built e-learning platform, exclusively tailored for Nigerian youths. The platform, which features 40 comprehensive modules covering various areas of insurance, brings together seasoned professionals and subject-matter experts from the industry to deliver high-quality, accessible training content.

According to the institute, this initiative aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda which emphasises leveraging sectors like insurance to drive economic growth and development.

Speaking at the launch, Yetunde Ilori, president and chairman of the CIIN, commended the Institute’s Secretariat for sourcing top-level industry expertise to facilitate the training. She described the e-learning platform as a landmark project that would serve generations to come as a permanent resource for insurance learning.

“This is a historic step for the institute and for the industry at large. We are thrilled to introduce this exciting platform, which represents a major milestone in advancing our EPIC Agenda — a strategy geared toward enhancing professional development and expanding industry networks,” she said.

Also speaking at the event, Abimbola Tiamiyu, registrar and CEO of CIIN, expressed appreciation to the Commissioner for Insurance, Olusegun Ayo Omosehin, for embracing the federal government’s call and trusting the CIIN to deliver on its mandate of promoting professionalism in the insurance sector.

Tiamiyu reaffirmed the Institute’s readiness to deepen industry knowledge, build capacity, and make insurance more relatable to the younger generation through innovative digital education tools like the newly launched platform.
