Emirates has introduced a raft of new travel flexibility measures, including unlimited free date changes on flights to Dubai, lower refund fees and comprehensive travel insurance, as the airline moves to give customers greater control over bookings amid changing travel plans and disruptions.
Effective August 10, 2026, customers travelling to Dubai can change their travel dates as many times as required at no additional charge across a broad range of Economy and Business Class fares.
The airline said the new policy applies to Economy Saver through Flex fares, as well as Special, Saver and Flex fares in Business Class.
Economy Flex Plus, Premium Economy, Business Flex Plus and First Class fares will continue to offer full flexibility.
Alongside the free date-change policy, Emirates has substantially reduced refund charges on flights to Dubai.
For Economy passengers, refund fees have been reduced to $50 on Saver fares and $25 on Flex fares.
In Business Class, the charges are $50 for Special and Saver fares and $25 for Flex fares.
The airline said the combination of unlimited free date changes and lower refund charges will allow customers to modify or abandon travel plans with significantly lower financial penalties.
The measures could be particularly relevant for travellers whose plans are affected by unforeseen events, shifting schedules or disruptions to regional travel.
Emirates is also extending flexibility beyond Dubai-bound journeys.
Customers travelling anywhere on the airline’s network are entitled to one free date change on tickets booked from April 2, 2026, including itineraries connecting through Dubai.
Travellers can also place a fare on hold for 24 hours at no charge while finalising their plans.
The policy gives passengers greater certainty when arranging international trips, allowing them to secure a fare while delaying the final booking decision.
The airline has also introduced what it describes as an industry-first Comprehensive Travel Cover, providing insurance protection across a range of travel risks.
The product includes additional conflict cover, with reimbursement of medical expenses of up to $25,000, as well as a free trip extension of up to 30 days.
The cover is not restricted by government travel advice and also includes protection for trip cancellation, baggage delays and baggage loss.
Passengers receive unlimited worldwide medical-expense coverage and emergency evacuation protection.
The insurance is available across 27 countries and can be purchased during the booking process on Emirates’ website or added to an existing reservation through the airline’s Manage Booking service.
The airline said that where flights are disrupted, Emirates will provide accommodation directly for affected customers.
Where onward connections operated by other airlines are affected, or Emirates services are unavailable, passengers will be rebooked to their destinations at no additional cost, including in cases where cancellations result from airspace disruptions.
Skywards members get additional incentives
Emirates is also offering additional benefits to members of its Emirates Skywards loyalty programme through August 31, 2026.
Members will require 20 percent fewer Tier Miles to qualify for Silver, Gold and Platinum status, while Emirates and flydubai passengers will receive a 20 percent bonus on Tier Miles.
The airline is also offering greater value through its Cash+Miles programme.
Under the promotional rate, members can use 2,000 Miles for $30, compared with the usual $15, when redeeming Miles towards Emirates or flydubai flights, excess baggage, lounge access and seat selection.
The incentives are designed to increase the value of the loyalty programme while encouraging customers to continue flying with Emirates and its regional partner, flydubai.
