The upcoming First City Monument Bank (FCMB) Hackathon has attracted over 2,000 registrations, demonstrating its popularity among tech enthusiasts.

The event, scheduled for October 27-29, is a key part of FCMB’s commitment to nurturing innovation. FCMB and its parent company, the FCMB Group, are dedicated to creating opportunities for tech talent to showcase their skills and creativity.

In partnership with Ingressive For Good, FCMB’s 50-hour virtual Hackathon will bring together a diverse group of tech enthusiasts to build proofs of concept and MVPs that leverage FCMB’s APIs and promote Open Banking. The goal is to solve a specific challenge within the 50-hour time frame.

The FCMB Hackathon stands out for its potential to unite over 2,000 tech enthusiasts in creating innovative projects that solve real-world challenges. This includes addressing business challenges and social problems through sustainable solutions, with the support of FCMB’s APIs and Open Banking principles. The event also offers an opportunity for developers, engineers, students, designers, and others to showcase their skills and collaborate on impactful projects

Participants will not only have the chance to demonstrate their innovative ideas, but also put their technical skills to the test by creating digital solutions and competing for attractive rewards. The most outstanding teams will be rewarded with cash prizes and recognition for their groundbreaking solutions.

According to FCMB, the programme will not only provide an opportunity for collaboration and networking among participants, but also create a dynamic ecosystem where like-minded individuals can connect, share ideas, and broaden their knowledge.  In addition, the collaborative environment is expected to support the emergence of innovative solutions and lasting partnerships that will benefit the tech ecosystems in Nigeria and Africa.

The bank stated that the hackathon will help launch the next generation of tech visionaries and propel them towards success. This, it noted, further demonstrates its commitment to cultivating innovation, championing tech-driven ideas, and creating new opportunities for tech pioneers, while empowering the next wave of innovators and supporting their development.
