Glovo, the multi-category technology platform, says Nigeria remains its fastest-growing market globally in 2026, as the company puts its cumulative investment in the country at more than N54 billion since commencing operations in 2021.
The company said its continued expansion reflects its confidence in Nigeria’s digital economy and the growing role of technology platforms in connecting consumers, businesses and independent couriers.
According to Glovo, more than 40 million items have been delivered to customers through its platform since it entered the Nigerian market, while the economic value generated for businesses operating on the platform more than doubled in the past year.
The growth places Nigeria ahead of Glovo’s other markets across its 21-country global footprint, underscoring the scale of opportunity the company sees in the country’s rapidly evolving on-demand commerce sector.
Glovo said Nigeria has maintained its position as the company’s fastest-growing market globally in 2026, while also consistently recording the best operational timing among on-demand ordering applications in the country.
Dima Rasnovsky, director of Glovo in Africa, said the company’s investment reflects its long-term confidence in Nigeria and the opportunities created by the country’s digital transformation.
“Our confidence in Nigeria remains strong. We have invested significantly in the market because we believe in its potential and the opportunities that technology can unlock for businesses and customers,” Rasnovsky said.
He said the company’s focus would remain on strengthening the ecosystem around its operations through technology improvements, partner support and initiatives designed to create sustainable value.
The more than doubling of economic value generated for businesses on the platform over the past year highlights the increasing importance of digital marketplaces to local commerce.
Glovo has sought to strengthen the capacity of small and medium-sized businesses through its Glovo Academy programme, under which it has conducted more than 50 in-person training sessions for hundreds of SMEs.
The company said participants recorded clear improvements in performance after the training, suggesting that the platform is seeking to move beyond delivery services towards providing operational and commercial support to its business partners.
Earlier this year, Glovo also held its second annual Future of Commerce Summit, bringing together chief executives of major brands including Chicken Republic, Burger King and The Place alongside hundreds of local small and medium-sized restaurant operators.
The summit was designed to provide a platform for businesses to exchange knowledge and examine opportunities emerging from the changing commerce landscape.
Rasnovsky said the company would continue investing in its technology while supporting businesses and couriers operating within its ecosystem.
“As the market continues to evolve, our focus is on strengthening our ecosystem and ensuring that we continue to create meaningful value for everyone who relies on our platform,” he said.
