Leadway Assurance, provider of insurance and allied financial services, in partnership with Gamp, an insurtech company for consumer electronics in Africa, have unveiled device protection plans to  deliver after-sales support and repair services for individuals and businesses in Nigeria.

The companies stated that the  device protection plan covers the cost of repair of damaged devices for subscribers through any of gamp’s repair centres or Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) accredited partners across Nigeria.

The plan also covers  all types of gadgets, regardless of brand, location of purchase, condition, or model, and could be purchased online or in-store from partner stores.

Under the plan, a subscriber could request a repair online from the comfort of their home, where the affected gadget would be picked up, repaired, and delivered by gamp.

Commenting  on the partnership, Umashime Oguzor-Doghro,head, partnership and microinsurance, Leadway Holdings, noted that the  partnership is part of efforts by Leadway to expand access to insurance services by embedding them into the customer’s lifestyle.

“With over 130 million devices in Nigeria today, the need to provide an insurance cover to indemnify consumers against the cost of repairs cannot be overemphasised,’’ Oguzor-Doghro said.

On her part, Boluwatife Omotayo, chief executive officer, Gamp, observed that the median age of Nigerians is 18. “As the demand for smartphones and computers is growing quickly, the need for reliable and affordable device protection and support is also on the rise,’’ she added.
