Leadway targets December travel boom with arrival pack

Leadway Assurance has introduced a short-term insurance product for visitors to Nigeria and businesses serving, targeting the rise in international travel and commercial activity during tourism seasons.

The insurer’s Leadway Arrival Pack is designed for diaspora Nigerians, tourists, business travellers, students and other short-term visitors, as well as businesses such as hotels, short-let operators, restaurants, event centres, tour operators and travel agencies.

The product was unveiled in Lagos as the Leadway positioned December as its main season for the product. The insurer also plans to offer the cover during other periods of higher travel activity including Easter and Eid.

Leadway said international passenger movements into Nigeria rose from 4.33 million in 2024 to 4.85 million in 2025, representing about 12 percent growth.

Kikelomo Fischer, the  executive director, retail and partnerships of Leadway Assurance said the product was developed to provide short-term protection for visitors and businesses during periods of increased travel gatherings and commercial activity.

The individual Arrival Pack costs ₦85,000 for one month. It provides up to ₦5 million for accidental death and permanent disability, ₦2 million for medical expenses and ₦5 million for personal belongings and all-risk protection.

The individual package also includes motor third-party liability and own-damage cover of up to ₦500,000 as well as windscreen protection.

The business corporate Arrival Pack costs ₦132,500 for three months, it provides up to ₦40 million in property and contents protection, ₦40 million for burglary, ₦5 million in public liability cover and ₦500,000 in private vehicle and auto-base protection.

Leadway said the product is intended to address a gap created by traditional insurance plans which are often structured for longer periods and may not suit people visiting Nigeria for a short stay.

The insurer said the Arrival Pack is available for purchase online and will be distributed through partnerships with diaspora associations, travel agencies, airlines, hotels, event platforms and mobility providers.
