Business and employment-focused social media platform LinkedIn has announced a new AI-powered feature for premium subscribers, coinciding with the social network’s announcement that it has surpassed one billion members.
The new feature, called “LinkedIn Coach,” uses AI technology and data from LinkedIn to help job seekers find and apply for positions that match their experience and goals. LinkedIn hopes that the new feature will help people navigate the ever-changing job market and make the most of their profiles.
LinkedIn’s new AI-powered features for premium subscribers will leverage data from user profiles and past searches to provide personalised recommendations and insights. For example, when a user browses a job listing, the AI system will analyse the job description and assess the user’s profile to determine how well the user fits the requirements of the role. This can help job seekers find opportunities that are a good match for their skills and experience, and avoid wasting time applying for jobs they are unlikely to get.
“Reaching 1 billion members is a significant milestone, but it’s more than just a number. It’s a testament to the dynamic ecosystem that LinkedIn has created,” said Tomer Cohen, chief product officer at LinkedIn. He further explained that the milestone reflects the importance of LinkedIn’s platform in the lives of professionals and businesses around the world.
Commenting on the latest innovation, Cohen said LinkedIn premium members will see personalisation at every turn, from gaining insights on important topics to finding personalised career actions they can take. In other words, the new AI-powered features will not only help users find jobs, but also provide career advice and personalized recommendations based on their unique profile and interests.
“It will include personalised takeaways and nudges, from suggestions for skills you should build, to professionals in your network to reach out to for any question you have,” the chief product officer added.
According to LinkedIn, the AI feature will in addition to job search, analyse long-form content such as articles, videos, and posts on the social media platform. It will then provide personalised recommendations on how that information might be useful or relevant to the user’s specific career goals.
