Nigeria’s electricity regulatory body, NERC, has granted eight firms “no objection” in order to participate in the procurement and eventual bid process of metering service with electricity distribution companies (DisCos).

This brings the number of successful applicants to 30 and after the submission deadline, they are expected to begin the bidding process with any DisCos of their choice.

“Successful applicants from procurement process shall obtain meter asset provider permit from the commission after entering into the metering service agreement with the DisCos,” NERC said in a statement.

The commission also said that the services to be provided by the approved meter asset providers include financing, procurement, installation, repair and replacement of electricity matters as described in the MAPs regulations 2018.

The eight newly approved firms include Carlin Concept Intl Nig. Ltd, Onenation Energy Platform Nig. Ltd, Armese Consulting Ltd, CWG Ltd, Damtaq Ltd, Powerup Projects Intl  Ltd, Esinos Resource Intl Ltd and Techadvance Ltd.

Prospective investors are still being advised to apply as the commission described the process as “a continuous process”.
