10 years after entering Nigeria’s emerging luxury spa and skincare market, ORÍKÌ Group, the Lagos-based wellness and beauty brand, is embarking on a new phase aimed at positioning African wellness excellence on the global stage. Founded by Joycee Awosika in 2015, the company recently marked its tenth anniversary in Lagos with a gala event that combined gratitude, reflection, and a forward-focused commitment to expansion and impact.
Beyond the celebration, ORÍKÌ’s milestone represents a notable example of how a homegrown Nigerian brand has scaled sustainably within an industry historically dominated by international players by cultivating trust, consistency, and a distinctly African identity.
When ORÍKÌ launched its first spa and product line a decade ago, Nigeria’s wellness market was still largely informal, characterized by small beauty salons, herbal skincare producers, and a handful of luxury spas serving expatriates. Over the years, Joycee Awosika’s vision of building a holistic African wellness ecosystem that integrates skincare, spa franchises, product manufacturing, and social impact has matured into a well-defined business model.
Today, the group operates several spa outlets across Nigeria, runs a product manufacturing arm, manages a training academy for beauty and wellness professionals, and maintains a growing online retail presence. Its locally sourced and produced product line embodies a wider shift toward “Made-in-Africa” beauty solutions built to global standards.

Tola Awosika, a business leader and supporter of the brand, commended the ORÍKÌ team for their unwavering commitment to excellence and innovation over the past decade. He described the brand’s story as one of resilience, vision, and discipline, emphasizing that its success reflects the power of consistency and a clear sense of purpose. He encouraged entrepreneurs to pursue excellence with patience and integrity, noting that true success is built through daily effort and intentional growth.
The company used the anniversary to unveil The ORÍKÌ Foundation, an initiative that extends its wellness philosophy into social impact. The foundation will focus on empowering caregivers, dignifying the elderly, supporting survivors through vocational training, and advancing mental wellness awareness.
Abiodun Williams, head of operations at ORÍKÌ, explained that the Foundation was established to empower, restore, and uplift communities through initiatives focused on restoring caregivers, dignifying the elderly, empowering survivors through vocational training, and advancing mental wellness. She described it as an extension of ORÍKÌ’s long-standing mission to build a global wellness ecosystem powered by African excellence, emphasising that every person supported by the Foundation represents an opportunity to rebuild hope and self-worth.

The foundation has already secured support from the Ajose Foundation, chaired by Bamidele Abiodun, First Lady of Ogun State, who described ORÍKÌ as a symbol of African excellence that has redefined how wellness can create social change.
In her keynote address, Joycee Awosika, the company’s founder and CEO, outlined plans to expand ORÍKÌ beyond the continent, beginning with the launch of ORÍKÌ UAE, a strategic entry point into the Middle Eastern market.
“This is not just a celebration of our birth but of our journey. We are redefining wellness in a continent where people often see it as a luxury. I believe wellness is essential to how we live, work, and grow. As we enter this new era, our mission is to export excellence, scale access, and build an ecosystem that places African beauty and wellness at the center of global conversations,” she said.

The evening featured soulful musical and dance performances, a short documentary chronicling ORÍKÌ’s growth, and surprise awards presented by Humans of ORÍKÌ to Joycee Awosika, Tola Awosika, and their sons. The event concluded with prayers of blessing by Bolarinwa Akinlabi, co-global lead pastor of The Elevation Church, followed by a joyful cake-cutting ceremony led by Dere Awosika, Florence Awojoodu, and Joycee Awosika.
The celebrations continued the following day with an Adire Praise Party that brought together ORÍKÌ staff across all branches for a day of gratitude, fellowship, and recognition. Rita Ugwu was honoured as a long-serving team member and appreciated for her dedication, while Muyi Mepaiyeda charged the team to uphold excellence, value themselves, and remain steadfast in purpose.
The ORÍKÌ 10th Anniversary was more than a celebration. It was a defining moment for a brand that has become synonymous with African innovation, wellness, and purpose. As ORÍKÌ embarks on its next decade, it continues to lead a movement that champions African beauty and wellness on the global stage, inspiring a generation to live well, do good, and build legacies that endure.
