- Sets up 500-clothes-sets per day wash centre in Benin City
LG Electronics, a consumer goods and home appliances company, said it has undertaken free machine laundry for 300,000 clothes for some 24,000 Nigerian families spread in Lagos, Kano and Port Harcourt between 2018 and this year.
Brian Kang, the general manager, home appliances, LG Electronics West Africa operations, said in Benin-City, Edo State, that the move was part of the company’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) in Nigeria.
The home appliances company has established its fourth free wash centre in Benin-City. “Packed with energy saving technology, the LG washing machines eliminate unnecessary operations, with cutting-edge washing machine technology, a choice of attractive colours, as well as sleek, modern designs. LG washing machines help make clothes look at their best, each time you wash,” Kang said.
“We launch our fourth Free Wash Centre in Benin-City, Edo State as a social investment we are happy to make. The journey started in 2018 from establishing the first of its kind in Ogba, Lagos State; same year we moved to Port Harcourt; and early this year, we established the one in Kano. We are resolute to keep replicating this gesture across the nation,” he said.
LG Electronics Inc. is South Korean multinational electronics company headquartered in Yeouido-dong, Seoul, South Korea, and Kang said the clothes washing event was done in the company’s operational free laundry/wash centres in Lagos, Port Harcourt and Kano states. He described the achievement as significant for the company, adding that the Benin centre has the capacity to wash 500 sets of clothes per day for over 40 persons.
Kang said the initiative would go a long way in assisting Edo State people in meeting their washing needs; explaining further that the free laundry service was targeted at alleviating shortage of water and power supply in the area, as well as for residents to efficiently carry out their laundry activities.
He said LG Electronics has over the years continued to receive commendation from Nigerian consumers for having their interest at heart by providing cutting edge technological products.
The West Africa operations general manager, home appliances, LG Electronics, noted that the free wash service was part of the company’s little way of giving back to the society because the people are the direct beneficiaries of the project as well as utilize it judiciously to make life better for themselves. He further disclosed that the laundry centres are operating free of cost to end users, just as he called on the residents of the state to take full advantage of the support being rendered to them by the company.
Hari Elluru, head of corporate marketing division, LG Electronics, West Africa operations, said the technologically advanced set of commercial washing machines and dryers will improve the living conditions of the beneficiaries. He also said that it will support the daily washing needs of people in the state as well as save time, because of its high efficiency advantage. He expressed the determination of the company to lead sustainability through inclusive growth in Nigeria while ensuring that the business community enjoy the best advanced technologically built electronic products.
The representative of Fouani Nigeria Limited, Benin City branch manager, Hadi Hobballah, who described the state-of-art free wash centre by its LG Electronics partner, noted that the gesture will help its customers to further keep clean in a way that promotes hygienic living.
Hobballah said LG Electronics is focused on strategic ways to touch lives and make life better for the people across the globe; adding that the company would continue to replicate this gesture across strategic places in Nigeria.
