Air Peace expands regional growth with first brand-new Embraer E175 delivery

Air Peace has taken delivery of its first brand-new Embraer E175 aircraft, strengthening the airline’s regional expansion strategy as it seeks to improve connectivity across West and Central Africa while enhancing fleet efficiency.

The aircraft, configured with 88 seats in a dual-class layout, gives Nigeria’s largest carrier additional flexibility to serve regional and lower-demand routes that may not require larger aircraft, the aircraft in the E175 category typically offer airlines a more efficient operating model on thinner regional routes by matching capacity with passenger demand.

The delivery also represents another step in Air Peace’s fleet modernisation programme as the airline continues to expand its Embraer fleet alongside its Boeing operations to support domestic, regional and international services.

Beyond fleet expansion, the partnership carries wider commercial significance for Nigeria’s aviation industry. Air Peace and Embraer are advancing plans to develop local aircraft maintenance capability in Nigeria, a move expected to strengthen technical support for Embraer aircraft operating in the country while reducing dependence on overseas maintenance facilities.

The planned maintenance capability is also expected to support employment opportunities for aircraft engineers, technicians and other aviation professionals as Nigeria seeks to deepen local aviation technical expertise.
The Embraer E175 fills the capacity gap between the airline’s smaller regional aircraft and its larger narrow-body fleet, allowing the carrier to deploy aircraft that better match passenger volumes on regional services while maintaining operational flexibility.

Air Peace has in recent years expanded its regional and international network as part of efforts to increase the participation of Nigerian airlines in cross-border air transport, a market still dominated by foreign carriers.

The latest fleet addition comes as Nigerian airlines continue to invest in aircraft acquisition despite rising operating costs, high financing expenses and persistent foreign exchange pressures that have increased the cost of fleet expansion across the industry.

For Air Peace, the addition of the E175 is expected to strengthen its regional network strategy while supporting longer-term ambitions to improve connectivity, enhance operational efficiency and reinforce Nigeria’s position in regional aviation.
