Noor Takaful Insurance Limited, a leading provider of Takaful Insurance solutions in Nigeria, has announced the second edition of the African Takaful and Non-Interest Finance Conference. The event is scheduled to take place on November 12-13, 2024, at the Lagos Oriental Hotel.

This two-day conference, which marks the second edition of the event, is expected to convene influential figures, financial regulators, and experts from within Africa and internationally to explore the role of Islamic finance in creating economic resilience in today’s volatile global landscape.

With the theme “Islamic Finance and Takaful: Building Resilience in a Volatile World,” the conference seeks to foster dialogue and deepen understanding of Takaful and non-interest finance, positioning them as ethical, sustainable alternatives to traditional financial models.

According to the company, as economies worldwide face increasing uncertainty, the conference will spotlight how Islamic finance can contribute to financial stability and inclusiveness across the continent.

Highlighting the event’s focus on collaboration and knowledge-sharing, the conference will feature a series of speakers. Among them is Bashir Hassan, executive director of the Agent for Inclusive Innovations and Development (AIID), who will bring insights into financial inclusivity through Islamic finance; Michael McCord, MD of the Microinsurance Centre at Milliman, and Farhan Noor, executive director at the Accounting and Auditing Organisation for Islamic Financial Institutions (AAOIFI).

The firm also noted that attendees will  expect a dynamic series of panel discussions moderated by industry figures, including Mohammed Garuba, Managing Director of CardinalStone Real Assets Limited, and Olaniyi Yusuf, Managing Partner of Verraki Partners’ Social Sector Practice.

Additionally,  panellists like Sumayya Hassan, CEO of Takaful Insurance of Africa Kenya, and Zubairu Darazo, head of market conduct and policy (Financial Inclusion) at Nigeria’s National Insurance Commission (NAICOM), will address diverse topics, from market conduct and policy to digital innovation in non-interest finance.

According to Rilwan Sumonu, the managing director of Noor Takaful Insurance Limited, the conference will help the company advance its ultimate goal of becoming a key player in Africa’s non-interest finance sector.
