A few months ago, United States President, Donald Trump, jumped on the digital money bandwagon by launching his own digital coin. Boy oh boy! That was a game changing moment in the journey to the world of digital money.
As a matter of fact, it seemed it wasn’t just a signal of the shape of things to come, Mr President may have unknowingly done everyone a huge favour with that singular act. It even marked a turning point for me in particular. Reason being that, having previously stayed away from anything crypto, because of the volatility of the digital currency, the entry of “The Donald “ into the arena has made me reconsider my “Sidon” (sit down) and look – stance.
It gave me the green light and one can confidently say he’s no longer doubting Thomas.
Prior to Trump’s entry into the market, yours truly got a glimpse of the reality of the gradual move into the world of digital money a few months ago, when I read about an European club making part payment for a player’s transfer with crypto. Even though I was still undecided whether to remain on the fence then, both my thinking and position have now changed to line up in the direction of Mr President. If he’s heading there, then it’s time for me to follow suit.
As a matter of fact, I’ve taken the bold step to not just talk the talk, but walk the talk like Mr Trump. In other words, yours truly has already put a tiny investment in it. That being said, this is not a call for anyone to start investing in cryptocurrency. As recommended in the piece “Are you taking note of the Nigerian Stock market?”, this disclosure is to let you be in the know that we are officially in the digital money era.
But here’s the thing. Don’t stake anything for now. Take the rest of this year as your learning and preparation time and see whether it’s something you fancy.
Money as a tool of pleasant surprise
In the first week of September, Dunamis International Gospel Centre, DIGC London Central’s pastor Ezekiel Pius, reached the fifth floor. As a token of appreciation, the congregation marked it for him at the end of the first Sunday service of the month.
Being the 50th, his wife Becky Pius had something else, a surprise birthday celebration lined up for her husband on the second Saturday, 13th, though. But flesh and blood didn’t reveal it to the Man of God the months of preparation. All a member said to him was that he had a preaching engagement.
Even as of the morning and till he was ushered inside the hall that afternoon, pastor Pius thought he was going to preach somewhere. Imagine the pleasant surprise of stepping into a packed venue in Southgate and hearing happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you. That was when the penny dropped.
Among those who were in the hall were his parents-in-law, pastor Ojo and his wife. His Canadian-based brother-in-law was the master of ceremony and the pastor’s own elder sister, who like the Ojos, flew in from Nigeria. Who says money isn’t a tool for pleasant surprises?
Here’s wishing the pastor a very happy birthday and a warm welcome to floor number five.
