L–R: Simisola Ojukotola, team member, Trust Services/Legal Department, STL Trustees Limited; Samuel Willie, head of business development, STL Asset Management Limited; Patrick Akinwuntan, former managing director/chief executive officer, Ecobank Nigeria; Bolatito Olujobi, investment banking senior analyst, STL Capital and Advisory Limited; and Abayomi Fashina, risk management, STL Capital Group Limited, receiving the Trustees Company of the Decade award on behalf of STL Trustees Limited at the recently held BAFI Awards, organised by BusinessDay Media in Lagos.

STL Trustees Limited has secured two honours at the 2026 BusinessDay Banks and Other Financial Institutions (BAFI) Awards, as the trustee firm marks 30 years in Nigeria’s financial services industry and seeks to consolidate its position in the capital market.

The company received the Trustee Company of the Decade Award for the second consecutive time, while its managing director and chief executive officer, Funmi Ekundayo, was named recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award in Trusteeship.

The recognition places the company’s record in fiduciary services and its leadership in the spotlight, highlighting the role of trusteeship in Nigeria’s financial system, where independent oversight and the administration of assets and obligations are important to investors, businesses and institutions.

According to the company, the awards recognise its contribution to the trusteeship industry, service delivery and innovation, as well as Ekundayo’s role in advancing professional standards within the sub-sector.

The honours come as STL Trustees celebrates three decades of operations, a milestone the company says reflects its contribution to the development of Nigeria’s capital market and wider financial services ecosystem.

Commenting on the awards, Ekundayo said the recognition was particularly significant because it coincided with the company’s 30th anniversary. She described the honours as a reflection of the collective efforts of employees and the confidence of clients, partners and other stakeholders.

“We are deeply honoured by this recognition from BusinessDay Media Limited, particularly as STL Trustees celebrates 30 years of building trust, delivering value and contributing to the growth of the Nigerian capital market and financial ecosystem. Being named Trustee Company of the Decade, alongside the Lifetime Achievement Award in Trusteeship, is a significant milestone that reflects our longstanding commitment to professionalism, innovation and excellence.

“These honours represent more than individual or organisational achievements; they reflect the collective efforts of our employees, the confidence of our esteemed clients, and the invaluable support of our partners and stakeholders who have been part of our journey over the years.

“As we celebrate three decades of service and stewardship, we remain focused on building on this legacy by strengthening our capabilities, embracing innovation and delivering world-class solutions that meet the evolving needs of our clients. These recognitions further inspire us to raise the bar in trusteeship and continue making meaningful contributions to the development of Nigeria’s financial services sector,” she said.

STL Trustees operates within the STL Capital Group, alongside STL Asset Management Limited and STL Capital & Advisory, giving it a place within an expanding financial services structure.
