LAAC 2026 to focus on balancing government revenue with aviation growth

The 30th Annual Conference of the League of Airport and Aviation Correspondents (LAAC) will focus on government revenue demands and their effect on the growth of Nigeria’s aviation industry which is scheduled to hold on Thursday, September 10,2026 at the Providence hotel, Ikeja Lagos.

The conference, which will be held at Providence Hotel, Ikeja, has the theme, ‘Towards a Sustainable Aviation Industry Balancing Government Revenue Demands with Sector Growth’.

The meeting with airlines and other aviation operators is expected to deal with multiple charges, high costs and the need to raise funds for aircraft, airport services and other areas of their businesses.

The conference will  bring together Festus Keyamo, the minister of aviation and aerospace development, government officials, regulators, airline operators, airport managers, investors, financial institutions and other industry stakeholders.

Keyamo will  attend as special guest of honour, while Wale Babalakin, the chairman of Bi-Courtney Aviation Services Limited, is to chair the conference, Allen Onyema, Air Peace chairman will deliver the keynote address.

Wole Shadare, the chairman of the LAAC Conference Committee, said the issue of government revenue needed to be considered alongside the need to keep the aviation industry running and attract investment.

He said the industry remained important to economic development, trade, tourism and national integration, but said that fiscal pressures and multiple charges had continued to raise concerns among operators and investors.

Shadare said the conference would seek practical recommendations that could assist the government in addressing the problems facing the sector. The discussions will also cover issues around aviation financing, infrastructure, regulation, investment and operational efficiency, according to the conference organisers.

The discussion is considered important for airports and other businesses that depend on passenger and cargo traffic, as higher operating costs can affect investment decisions across the aviation value chain.

The conference will also feature the unveiling of the second edition of LAAC’s Champions of Aviation publication, which highlights the work of aviation agencies and airlines.
